The workings of Trending Affirmations Trending Affirmations is an investigation into digital identity. The viewer is presented with a relatable installation of a bedroom scene with a dresser and a mirror and as the viewer approaches the installation, they will notice there are three lights flashing on top of the dresser that are also visible in the mirror’s reflection. A specific hashtag, one positive, one neutral, and one negative, controls each of the lights connected to the corresponding tag. As the viewer looks at their reflection, the viewer is encouraged to think about how they may portray themselves in social media and the combination of twitter activity and how it may compare to how they see themselves.
